Women's Film Festival 2014 Opens on March 7
From March 7 to 16, the New England Youth Theatre (NEYT, 100 Flat Street in Brattleboro) is hosting the 23rd annual Women's Film Festival, a Women's Freedom Center fundraiser. This year's offerings include 31 films directed by and about women. A total of 17 documentaries, 4 feature films, and 11 shorts from around the world will be screened.
OPENING NIGHT: This year's festival kicks-off with a super-powered gala on Friday, March 7, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at NEYT. The gala begins with a reception featuring champagne, hors d'oeuvres, and live music, followed by screening of the acclaimed film "Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines." Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superheroine/hero -- even to make up one of their own -- or come as their fave's alter-ego in "everyday" clothes! Gala tickets at $25 are available three ways (drop-ins may buy any unsold tickets):

"I am a Girl," an extraordinary film about what it means to be a girl on the brink of womanhood in different parts of the world in the 21st century.... And the Oscar-nominated short "Mondays at Racine," about women diagnosed with cancer, who -- as locks of hair fall to the floor -- giggle, weep, face their fears, and discover unexpected beauty.
