A Few "Arty" Causes on the Walk
This month (December 2013) there are a few fundraising events on the Walk, all of which are great opportunities to invest your gift-giving and personal treat dollars while helping worthy organizations meet their program goals -- see listings pages for details under each "Stop Number" referenced below:
BMH HOLIDAY TREE & WREATH SALE at 1868 Crosby House, Stop #3: The Hospital Auxiliary's annual sale of 2-foot tabletop trees and indoor wreaths all decked out for the holidays is in a charming Victorian B&B this Gallery Walk. Proceeds will go to the BMH Mammography Department. Stop by to pick your favorite tree or wreath; enjoy a cup of tea and tasty treats.
FRIENDS OF MUSIC AT GUILFORD's ART CALENDAR & CARD SALE at Latchis 4 Gallery, Stop #10: FOMAG's 2014 calendars and coordinated card series are filled with beautiful paintings and prints by Vermont artists whose works have been featured on recent program books and concert posters. Proceeds help underwrite the organization's events, many of which are offered free of charge to make them accessible to the broadest audience. Stop in at Latchis 4 during the Walk to stock up; otherwise come to the Messiah Sing at Centre Church on Sat. at 1:00 or call (802) 254-3600.
T-BAR FUNDRAISING CARD SALE at Galanes Vermont Shop, Stop #26: The Living Memorial Park Snow Sports nonprofit group provides volunteer help to run the lift and maintain the ski hill for area snow-sport lovers. Cards with a 1957 painting by Robert Chace of skiers at the park help raise funds needed for this important community cause. Stop in, stock up!
HOLIDAY BOOK SALE at Brooks Memorial Library, Stop #39: The Spring and Holiday book sales at Brooks Library are an important source of support for this town-owned resource that serves so many people, young and old. The holiday sale starts this weekend and continues through Dec. 20; stop in early for the best selection of new and like-new books and more.
ART 4 DANCE AUCTION at Brattleboro School of Dance, Stop #41: The Windham Career Center Dance Program is a great opportunity for young dance enthusiasts who want to pursue this form of expression as serious amateurs or committed professional performers. The funds raised at this Silent Auction of international art and sculpture from the late Otto Marx's collection, as well as gift certificates and goods from area merchants and a number of artists, will help send students to the national conference where they mingle with college scouts and learn about scholarship opportunities to help them pursue their dreams. The auction extends through Dec. 15.
THANKS FOR LENDING A HAND!
